40 Book Challenge
Welcome to the 40 Book Challenge, an independent reading challenge for your child! At BSE we are working towards a growth mindset, and this includes reading. Barbara Marinak, author of No More Reading for Junk: Best Practices for Motivatiing Readers, defines motivation to read as, “…the likelihood of engaging in a reading task and persisting despite challenges.” We want our students to grow as readers not just for the few short years they are with us, but throughout their entire lives.

Families can now join the BSE Birthday Book Club! Please use this site to donate a book to the BSE Library in celebration of your child, grandchild, niece or nephew! You will be giving a birthday gift that will be treasured by many, many children for years to come. Books may also be donated in honor or memory of a loved one. You may write a special message to your child and it will be displayed on a beautiful book plate inside the book. When the book arrives, your child will be the first to check it out and we will display their picture. Bailey Station appreciates your generosity!
Bailey Station is in the running to be considered one of the most innovative schools and we need your support to win! There’s $60,000 on the line, so keep reading to learn how you can support our school.
Earlier this year, we entered the Follett Challenge, a program created by Follett to find and reward schools for their work applying technology, content and creativity in ways that engage students, foster literacy and promote critical thinking. As part of the competition, we created a short video about what makes our program unique.
Please support us by viewing our video and voting for our submission at https://www.follettchallenge.com. Twenty percent of our total score is based on how well we spread the word about our video and earn votes! You can cast one vote per day January 23–27, 2017, so be sure to visit often!
By casting your vote, you’ll help us to spread the word about all the exciting activities going on in our school.
Thank you for your support. Your vote could make the difference in helping our school be crowned the Follett Challenge champion!
