Week of 9/26

I will be sending home information to start using the Seesaw App or site as our way of electronic communication.  It sort of runs like a Facebook page so that you can make comments on pictures that are posted.
 
MATH

Students will continue to work toward mastery in understand PV & recognize that in a multi-digit #, a digit in the one place represents 10x as much as the place to its right and 1/10 of the place to its left.

EX of work 23.8 x _____= 23,800 or 123.4 / 10^2= 1.234

By mid-week, we hope to be working on exponential notation.

TUESDAY: DOM quiz with lessons 5 & 6

SCIENCE

Students will continue to express knowledge of ecosystems and the relationships of organisms within them.

Monday: Team activity with Symbiosos
Tuesday: Start research on Symbiosis Want Ads” Students will use knowledge of Symbiotic relationships to create a want ad/poster using descriptions of self and needs from potential partner. This project is started in class and will be finish as homework throughout week. DUE FRIDAY
Examples and expectations will be discussed in class. This is a time to have fun and get creative.
Wednesday-Friday Finishing the week up with Ecosystems and Energy Pyramid.

Raising money for BSE
During the first week of school, I sent home a baggy for BOX TOPS.  I would like to turn them in at the end of SEPTEMBER.  If you can return the baggy by SEPT 30th that would be great!

Taking notes, watching videos to help master multiplying & dividing mentally problems like 14.4 x 100= or 23.87 divided by 10.

WEDNESDAY: Taking notes from the Learnzillion video on how to correctly write in expanded form  Ex:  (5 x1/10) + 7 x 1/100) + (9 x1/1000) = .579

Start assembly of interactive journal.

HW:  Practice toward mastery of Place Value forms

THURSDAY: Application of Place Value with "Gym Task"

FRIDAY:  Quiz on Math Fact Fluency, SLAP BAND GAME reading & writing all 3 forms of Place Value using adding and subtraction with decimals.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY:  To be determined:  Making edible Cells or compare healthy and unhealthy cells by analyzing two Case Studies.  The Ballerina‘s Bump.  Compare/analyze blood samples.
