PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM          BAILEY STATION 2018/19

Welcome to the gym, the place Bailey Station students come to learn to be healthy.  We look forward to teaching your child lifelong healthy habits and skills.

Your students' Physical Education teachers, Coach Mitchell and Coach Williams, are passionate about teaching and look forward to making a positive impact on their lives! We love children and are happy to have the opportunity to model and teach our students how to "Have Fun and Get Fit!" We use a wide variety of traditional and cooperative games, dance, skills and sports to teach lifetime fitness.
Our curriculum is based on the National and Tennessee State Physical Education Standards, as well as the same standards for Health.

The gym is the one place that you can learn just about everything you need to know for your whole life.  Listening, waiting for your turn, accepting others as they are, setting goals and cooperation are just a few of the lifetime skills learned in the gym.

For the first time in 100 years, a child born today has a shorter life expectancy than their parents. One in five American children is obese and one in three is considered to be overweight. (CDC, 7/10)  Inactivity and unhealthy foods are two of the main reasons for these startling statistics.  Through the Bailey Station Healthy Choices/Wellness Initiative we can help our children live longer lives and decrease their risk of heart diseases and diabetes. There is overwhelming research that healthy children perform at higher levels in school.
