The Barnes & Noble Summer Reading Program is here to help you on your way, encouraging you to read books of your own choosing and earn a FREE book, simply by following these three easy steps:
- Read any eight books this summer and record them in your Summer Reading Journal (Click underlined link above). Tell which part of the book is your favorite, and why.
- Bring your completed journal to a Barnes & Noble store between May 15th and September 3rd, 2018
- Choose your FREE reading adventure from the book list featured on the back of the journal.

40 Book Challenge
Welcome to the 40 Book Challenge, an independent reading challenge for your child! At BSE we are working towards a growth mindset, and this includes reading. Barbara Marinak, author of No More Reading for Junk: Best Practices for Motivatiing Readers, defines motivation to read as, “…the likelihood of engaging in a reading task and persisting despite challenges.” We want our students to grow as readers not just for the few short years they are with us, but throughout their entire lives.
