Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books, BOB, is a book club program for fifth-grade students across Collierville. Students read ten books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read against students from all the elementary schools in Collierville. The district-wide battle is similar to the TV series Family Feud competition style.
- Due to the competition style, size, and bracket, we can only accept 18 students for our school team. Please read the following details carefully before applying to join our team. Mrs. Boren will communicate with you by August 31st whether you have been accepted onto the team.
- Students that become BOB team members must read ten books chosen from the Tennessee Volunteer State Book Award list and professional book reviews. The Collierville Schools Librarians selected these books, and all school teams read the same books for the competition. Our BSE team will meet on Tuesday mornings in the library to discuss books and prepare for the competition. The Battle of the Books Competition will tentatively be held on February 28, 2023, and it is expected all members will participate.
- Club members must attend club meetings because we do not meet often. There may be occasions when we have to cancel or change a meeting, but for now, this is the schedule. When we get closer to the competition date, we may need to schedule additional meetings - I will keep you posted!
- Failure to attend meetings or not reading the books for the club will result in dismissal from Battle of the Books. Participation in other clubs does not excuse team members from our meetings. We need every team member to attend meetings to prepare for the competition.

January 10th - 8:00 am

February 7th - 8:00 am
February 21st - 8:00 am
February 28 – Battle of the Books Competition – 4:30-7:30 pm – Collierville High School
Books are available for checkout from the BSE Library and the Collierville Burch Library.
